About the tournament

European Fencing Festival is an international fencing tournament for children and youth that has brought together young competitors from Poland and many countries across Europe and the world in Poznań since 2008. From the very beginning, the event has been organised as the Jan Nowak Memorial Contest, commemorating one of the most distinguished coaches and promoters of fencing in Poznań. In 2022, the tournament was also named in honor of Mateusz Witkowski - a coach of the Poznań club KS “Warta” and one of the initiators of the European Fencing Festival, who passed away tragically at a young age.

The tournament is not only a high-level fencing competition, but also a meeting place for young talents, an opportunity to exchange experiences, and a platform for promoting the values at the heart of fencing: respect, discipline, and fair play. The event’s motto is: SPORT - CULTURE - EDUCATION.

The next edition will take place at the UAM Sports Hall, located at 9 Zagajnikowa Street in Poznań. This modern facility of Adam Mickiewicz University provides comfortable conditions for both athletes and spectators, offering a spacious arena, air conditioning, spectator stands, and full organizational infrastructure, which is why it has proven for years to be an excellent venue for fencing competitions.
